Using the correct kitchen task lighting is very important. Task lighting is needed to illuminate cooktops, prep areas, countertops, kitchen sinks, and dinning areas. Kitchen task lighting should be bright and glare-free to prevent tired eyes and fatigue. Undercabinet, over the sink, pendant, and recessed lights all can be kitchen task lights.

In this example, task lighting is used over the stovetop and the bar. The recessed lights or the small spotlights could provide additional task lighting over the countertops. This kitchen is a good example of using general, accent, and task lighting.
