Accent lighting is used to highlight objects throughout the home. Kitchen accent lighting is most often used to highlight special architectural features in the kitchen, cupboard contents, cabinets, or other artwork. Accent lighting should provide about three times more lighting on the object that is being targeted than other general lighting in the kitchen.

In this example, two different types of accent lighting are used in this kitchen. Small spotlights are inside the glass front cabinets so that certain glassware and artwork are illuminated. In addition, small spotlights are placed on a track to highlight the beautiful kitchen cabinets.
