Bathroom bar lighting is used over or on either side of the mirror. Bar lights are a series of small torchieres mounted on a metal bar with glass shades pointing up or down. The glass shades and the metal bar come in many shapes, finishes, and styles. Hollywood style bar lighting is common with multiple, round bulbs. In a small bathroom or powder room, bathroom bar lighting is often bright enough to provide general lighting for the whole bathroom. In larger bathrooms, it serves as task lighting for grooming activities performed at the mirror.

When placed on either side of the mirror, bathroom bar lighting should be at least 16 inches long. If placed over the mirror, it should measure at least 24 inches to adequately light the whole face evenly.
